Privatization of the entire Dallas ISD Attracts Growing Opposition from Allied Groups

“Stealth Privatization” of Dallas ISD Attracts Growing Opposition

Posted on March 18, 2014 by Texas AFT Staff

Texas AFT’s local affiliate representing school employees in Dallas ISD, the Alliance-AFT, and allied local community groups are not alone in taking a dim view of the proposed “home rule” takeover of their school district. As reported by education historian and ”corporate reform” critic Diane Ravitch on her blog, this past weekend the State Democratic Executive Committee—the elected governing board of the Texas Democratic Party—adopted a strongly worded resolution in opposition to the Dallas scheme. With characteristic directness, Ravitch’s headline reads: “Breaking News: Texas Democratic Party Condemns Stealth Privatization of Dallas Public Schools.”

the home-control charter for Dallas public schools. Is the mayor going to resign or is he providing cover for a Dallas (home) business group? Who owns the charter business?
