Greg Abbott’s education plan cites controversial thinker on race, gender

In talking about his Pre-kindergarten education plans this week, Greg Abbott cited Charles Murray, a conservative libertarian scholar whose work has caused major eruptions over the role of race and gender in achievement.

Murray currently works for the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute and has written numerous books, essays and opinion columns on education.

In September 2005, after Harvard University president Larry Summers was forced out for suggesting women were under-represented in fields of science because of a lower aptitude, Murray wrote an essay defending Summers’ statement.

In it he wrote, “no woman has been a significant original thinker in any of the world’s great philosophical traditions.”

Firts it was the abortionbarbie attacks. Next it Ted Nugent. After that it was pay equality and women are at fault for their own poor pay because women are: (a) too busy and (b) bad negotiators. Now Greg is citing the same racist who is the source so Pail Ryan's bad ideas

Greg is a weak candidate.

as a percentage/bell curve, to men in fields of science. This was a part of the counter culture against the equal rights amending back in the 1970s. How many lower graded students would be accepted in to a Master's Degree Program, as a committee of men would not accept any worthy degree plans from women graduates? Even lesser the number of PHD degree plans of importance, would be accepted by the Department of Sciences. Men had nothing to learn from women; they (men) did the teaching and receiving.

Greg skipped his own press conference because he was hiding from the press. http://bayareahouston.blogspot.com/2014/04/abbott-no-show-at-his-own-education.html

Adios Mo-Fos!

Remember the outrage by the media when Senator Davis wouldn't allow them into a local party's fundraising event? Well Greg Abbott one upped her and didn't even show up for his own press conference!

Fort Worth, Texas - Under increasing pressure over his controversial pre-k plan that included ideas from controversial figure Charles Murray, Greg Abbott today canceled a scheduled press conference in Dallas.

Reporters were not informed of the cancellation of the Abbott event, however, and were left scrambling and asking questions in this empty room where the press conference should have been.

I am sure the media is still trying to get over their outrage concerning the Davis event and will report on Abbott standing them up once they recover. Until then, this is just another stumble for Abbott.

Murray is the same white supremacist who is the source of Paul Ryan's plans to punish the poor for being poor.

This blog is one of our DUers. http://brainsandeggs.blogspot.com/2014/04/greg-abbott-showing-up-on-milk-cartons.html

Why is Greg Abbott avoiding the media and canceling appearances?

Every campaign has occasional scheduling problems. Sometimes events or appearances have to be cancelled for a variety of legitimate reasons.

But over the last several weeks, Greg Abbott has cancelled a number of events and has rarely taken press questions at the events he does attend. Clearly something is going on inside the Abbott campaign that’s affecting his willingness to appear in public or personally answer questions from the press.

-- Abbott has refused to meet with editorial boards both during and since the Texas primary.

-- Abbott spent more than three weeks (March 6 – 29) without any public events.
During this period (March 9 – 24) he refused to personally answer any questions on equal pay, even questions regarding salaries within his own AG office.

-- Abbott canceled an April 4th scheduled and publicized address to the Texas Renewal Project, an organization of Christian pastors (I posted about this conference here).

-- Abbott declined an April 5th opportunity to address the Texas AP Managing Editors Association in Padre Island.

-- Abbott’s campaign scheduled an April 7th press conference and Abbott simply failed to appear, not even bothering to send the press a cancellation notice.

It would be easy to imply, and reasonable to assume, that Abbott's campaign is wilting under pressure – especially the ongoing bad press over his bungling of the equal pay issue and his disastrous education policy rollout.

If it is something else – campaign personnel changes, pressing official business or a family issue – then Abbott needs to be forthright and explain in some detail.

If something is seriously wrong, Greg Abbott should say so, and everyone will know what to expect going forward.

Greg is hiding from the press for a reason. I doubt that Murray is the sole reason for this behavior.
