Threatening call prompted incoming traffic lock down at Fort Hood

4:42 p.m update: All gates onto Fort Hood have been closed for precautionary measures after a threatening call was made to the post Thursday, Fort Hood officials said.

After receiving the threat, Fort Hood’s Directorate of Emergency Services and Garrison Command opted to close the gate to people wishing to enter the base as a “force protection issue,” which relates to troop safety, Army officials said.

Reports of bones being found on the base were unrelated to the partial lock down, Fort Hood officials said. A call of bones found came in around the same time that officials blocked inbound traffic. It was a dead cat, officials said.

Earlier: All inbound traffic into Fort Hood has been blocked in what base officials are calling a “force protection issue.”
