Dallas 1 of 4 finalists to host the 2016 GOP convention

North Texas is still in the running to host the 2016 national Republican convention.

Top officials with the party on Thursday narrowed down the list of potential sites to host the 2016 national convention, leaving Dallas, Cleveland, Denver and Kansas City as the remaining contenders.

Part of the local draw may be the prospect of using the AT&T Stadium in Arlington as the site for the convention’s opening or closing ceremonies — not to mention the fact that former President George W. Bush has made his home in Dallas since leaving the White House.

The Republican National Committee announced the cities still in the race for the convention after Cincinnati and Las Vegas withdrew from consideration because they didn’t meet the criteria laid out or didn’t have the property facility or time to prepare for the event.

I know that they have convinced themselves that Jeb BUSH is a consideration but in the real world the Bush brand is horrendously tarnished.

Cleveland - basically saved Ohio for is in 2012 (even though it was a landslide anyway) so this makes me think that it is targeted matketing OR it lays the groundwork for a fix in 2016. Sorry I have watched them for too long not to always suspect a "game" going on.

Denver serves to help them in the mountain west but it also (in a normal world ) means they risk comparisons to Obama filling Mile High in 2008.

No opinion on KC - but I have heard that the NFL tailgate there is out of this world good.

The Democrats met in Houston in 1928 -- and LOST
The Republicans met in Houston in 1992 -- and LOST

So come on Dallas, make Texas a 3-time loser for national party conventions!

Since Plano has already given nearly $7 million to attract Toyota to town, they can have it in the Allen High School football stadium ("the monument to stupidity&quot and hope that the cracks expand rapidly to swallow all of them. It would be the best thing to ever happen to Amurika.
