I was taking a nap when I heard a loud thunk against the apartment rails outside the apartment. The wind was howling and when I opened the door I could hear the police sirens blaring. We got a deluge in the storm. It stopped raining about 15 minutes later, but the radar showed red and purple areas and looked like it was developing a hook. This cell is heading in a northeasterly direction while the front passing through the state is heading to the southeast and is beginning to break apart.

(7,672 posts)We had 45-66 mph winds with it, so it's a mixed blessing, but we had only got 1.3 inches of rain all year so far.
Glad you're okay

(112,102 posts)When I looked at the radar later in the afternoon it looked like it was forming the classical hook over near Katy.

(111,243 posts)and we got some good rain out of it. Whenever that happens at this time of the year, look out downstream!
Anything that has enough energy to squeeze out a few raindrops here in our driest part of the year has enough punch to clobber people on the other side of the Rockies.
