Davis camp rips Abbott as RNC picks Cleveland over Dallas

Texas Democrats aren't offering any words of sympathy after their Republican counterparts likely lost to Ohio hosting rights to the GOP's biggest shindig.

Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis’ campaign took a swipe at Republican opponent Greg Abbott after a Republican National Committee panel picked Cleveland over Dallas to host the 2016 RNC convention.

Davis campaign spokesman Zac Petkanas issued a statement soon after the panel made the announcement.

“A major role of the governor is to attract conventions, tourism and business to the state of Texas in order to create good paying jobs and boost the economy,” the statement reads. “Despite his begging, Greg Abbott was unable to deliver the Republican National Convention to Dallas. It’s unfortunate because this is one of Greg Abbott’s insider backroom deals Texas families could have really used.”
