E Vote Flips D to R in Collin County Texas

We received a tip from a reader who reports that a woman she knows in Collin County, Texas "tried to vote a straight Dem ticket and the machine flipped her votes to all-Republican straight ticket. When she complained, they unplugged the machine, put her on a second one, and THE SAME THING HAPPENED."

The reader reports that the voter, who voted on Tuesday this week after the start of early voting in Texas on Monday, finally "manually voted for each race," rather than using the straight ticket option available to voters in the Lone Star State. We've asked for a number of additional details, but have only received a few of them, so we won't go into great detail on those yet.

In any event, we checked in with Sharon Rowe, the Election Administrator in Collin County, a well-populated, middle-class area of Texas just outside of Dallas, encompassing the cities of Plano and McKinney, the county seat.

1. Why do I get the feeling if

The R votes were to swing to a D vote, ALL E machine voting would STOP. Why didn't the Dem's fight over this after the debacle of 2000. Paper is the ONLY way to go with BOTH hand counts, and machine counts.

3. I think they are complicit in some way and their ability to press the issue from the moral

high ground has been compromised.

No proof, but I suspect that Howard Dean fell victim to this in the primaries, and I think that Ned Lamont fell victim to this against Joe Lieberman. If that is true, then maybe the corporatist Dems would rather lose to Republicans than progressive democrats.

It would be hard to explain their silence on this issue unless their hands are somehow dirty too.

I remain flabbergasted that democrats willingly signed on for computer voting.

Only one way to do it. Paper ballots, strict custody of said ballots and videotaped counting.

4. my vote didn't flip from D to R in Harris County

...that is, not while I was standing there. Who knows what happened to my vote after I left the polling booth?
