Austin Restaurant Blames Obamacare For Margarita Prices

This story starts, as many do, with a tweet. A customer was at the Salty Sow and noticed a troubling item on the drink menu: the “Obama Care Margarita.”

David J. Neff @daveiam
Hey @SaltySow what's up w the @FoxNews sponsored menu crap? Really?

One tweet led to another, and soon, Eater Austin reported, Austinites were vowing to boycott the establishment and all of their tasty drinks.

JJ @jenztweets
@daveiam @SaltySow I guess they don’t like having to look out for their employees’ wellbeing.

Charles Potato Pie @charlesv
@daveiam @glasswar yikes - guess I'm not going to @saltysow again

The original tweet garnered over thirty responses, at least one of which expressed frustration with all of the fuss over a joke:

James Cameron @jcsie
Are people truly mad at the salty sow for a bad joke about Obamacare? So much for anyone in Austin having a sense of humor.

But clearly, the Salty Sow wasn’t going to take any chances with the previously mentioned humorless clientelle. They issued an apology (and took to Twitter, to cover all of their bases) after removing the drink from their menu. The Salty Sow said:

On last night’s menu, we made a tongue-in-cheek reference to a hot button topic. We apologized to those who were offended and have removed it from the menu.

so it shouldn't be hard to find one that doesn't make jokes at the expense of their employees and customers.

and I think that the prices are a more reasonable than the Salty Sow. I think that they realized that they made a big blunder so it will be interesting to see what type of deals they will offer to regain any business they may have lost.

5. If they can't do that then they should make anyone who desires to be a full-time employee and

They cater to the people that brought us sky-high costs of living here.

11. I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only person that considered the menu prices to be too high.

The alcohol prices seem to fit into the window I expect, but I also don't know the size that they are serving. I doubt that I would ever eat there and a name like "Salty Sow" isn't that appealing either.

I guess they don't want to look crass.

9. Prices are there..$26 for the steak, not hard. Restaurant menus are not the place for attempts at sarcasm.
