Friend's arrest magnifies McKinney suicide tragedy
McKINNEY — A 14-year-old taking his own life is tragic enough for friends like Izzy Groff and Ian, but it's tougher as more details emerge.
"A part of me is missing. I just feel like I don't have a little brother anymore," Izzy said.
Raymond Howell was found dead in a ditch last thursday morning. Authorities said he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Court documents said Raymond was found by a close friend. News 8 now knows that friend was Jordan Sharifi, 17, who was arrested and jailed by McKinney police.
Investigators said Jordan gave Raymond a stolen gun. Detectives said he gave it to "Raymond for protection."
