Follow-up: Young Conservatives rally for campus carry at Texas Tech intersection

Six Texas Tech students and members of the Young Conservatives of Texas at Texas were waving signs in support of campus carry at the intersection of Broadway and University Avenue on Wednesday afternoon as drivers in passing cars honked or gave the Tech guns up sign.

James Price said no one gave a negative response, and some gave positive responses to the pro-campus carry event.

Prince Phwitiko, chairman of the Young Conservatives of Texas, said, “This is a good turn-out. I’m happy that people showed up. We’re all students, so we have to kind of work around our schedule.”

The group wanted to educate people on what campus carry is and what a concealed handgun license is, Phwitiko said. People have a lot of misconceptions about campus carry, he said.
