Who to support in the Senate primary?

I've narrowed my choices down to Sean Hubbard and Paul Sadler. Hubbard, IMO, represents the future of the Democratic Party in Texas, but won't be a very competitive candidate for the Senate this year. Sadler, again IMO, is a holdover from the Ann Richards era of the Texas Democratic Party, is a more polished and experienced legislator, will make a better Senator, and will make for a much more competitive race. So I'm torn between the present and the future. Should we sacrifice 2012 to help launch Mr. Hubbard onto a state-wide stage or do we try to win it here and now?

What do you guys think?

But I wouldn't really worry about who would be a better candidate for November. I fear the competition then will be similar to the contest an insect has with a windshield.

I was persuaded to vote for Sadler.

I will keep voting for Democrats and donating to their campaigns. I hope and pray that the voting electorate here in Texas gets over its love affair with right-wingers who choose to screw them over to please ideologues and wealthy campaign donors. I want victory, but I can live with a clear conscience when some right-wing jerk gets elected and does what right-wingers do.

I have come to the conclusion that blowing off voting, no matter how futile voting for progressives in Texas statewide races may seem, is like handing the keys of an automobile with sleeping children in the back seat to a drunken driver with a long history of traffic tickets and causing wrecks. Those people take voter silence in the same way they'd take voter support--as full-blown consent.

I just don't think this is a stepping stone for Hubbard. School board, City Council, State Rep, those are stepping stones. I like Hubbard, but we need to get real about this.

Sadler is one hell of an elected official. He has the experience. And a pretty nice guy too.

Unfortuantely we cant run this race on emotions only.
