EMS: 40 K2 patients in the last 72 hours (Austin)

In the last 72 hours, medics have responded to 32 calls with 40 patients, according to Austin-Travis County Emergency Management officials.

Around 6:20 p.m. Saturday there were three K2 calls reported with eight people involved, medics said.

Since May, there have been 813 K2-related incidents with 841 people involved, officials said.

Synthetic drugs, commonly known as K2 or “Spice,” is known to cause violent behavior, high heart rates, unconsciousness and seizures.
