Abbott asks feds to boost border security after increase in crossings

AUSTIN – Gov. Greg Abbott is asking the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for additional law enforcement help along the Mexican border, after noting a “significant increase in immigrants who are once again pouring across our border illegally.”

Abbott wrote on Wednesday to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to request 250 additional Border Patrol Agents in Texas, five more aerostats and “continued federal diligence and partnership” to maintain the two detention centers in Texas.

He tied the request specifically to an increase in August of immigrant families and unaccompanied children illegally crossing the border.

“Given recent reports that our southern border has become more porous – not less, it is clearer than ever that the federal government must act to reverse the tide of this mounting crisis,” the Republican wrote.

Doesn't Texas have any Tea Party Minutemen or Oathkeepers? Come on, I'm positive that those men and women will be more then happy to volunteer to assist!

The best part is that both groups believe in being self sufficient and are true and loyal patriots! It won't cost the state of Texas anything...
