Turner leading in Houston mayoral poll
A week before the start of early voting, state Rep. Sylvester Turner has a commanding lead of nearly 10 percentage points over his Houston mayoral rivals, a new poll shows, as former Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia and former Kemah Mayor Bill King are neck-and-neck for second.
Nineteen percent of surveyed registered voters said they would likely vote for Turner in the race to succeed term-limited Mayor Annise Parker, according to a KUHF/KHOU survey released Sunday. Garcia and King received 9.2 and 9.1 percent support, respectively.
Meanwhile, 6.3 percent said they would cast a ballot for former Congressman Chris Bell, 5 percent for City Councilman Steve Costello and 3.9 percent for former City Attorney Ben Hall.
Nearly half of the respondents - more than 46 percent - either said they didn't know who they likely would vote for or declined to answer.

Mixed feelings about that race. Turner is a Democrat but has a poor record on LGBT rights which will also be on the ballot in November.
