Texas GOP leaders condemn Trump's explicit comments; only one withdraws support

WASHINGTON — The voice of the Republican nominee on the recording was loud and clear: “Grab them by the {expletive}” Donald Trump said. “You can do anything.”

But in the 24 hours since that decade-old video has surfaced, the Texas delegation in Congress has largely been silent.

But of the 27 Texas Republicans in Congress, almost all of whom have supported Trump in some form or other, only one has taken that step: Rep. Will Hurd, of San Antonio. Aides to just four of them, contacted Saturday, acknowledged the recording at all.

Sen. John Cornyn said in a tweet that he was “disgusted” by Trump’s words but did not say whether he still planned to vote for Trump in November. Aides declined to comment.
