Hundreds of thousands of veterans may go without health insurance next year. That's a conclusion of a recent study by a non-profit group.
The report from the Urban Institute predicts more than 600,000 veterans could be without health insurance in 2017, unless Texas and 18 other states stop holding out against Medicaid expansion.
That expansion is an option under the Affordable Care Act. However, many governors have opted not to do it.
Congressman Blake Farenthold says Texas has legitimate reasons for not expanding, "including not supporting Obamacare, in general, and very high costs to the state," he tells KRIS 6 News.
