Army recruiter in San Antonio admits selling guns to associates of Mexican drug cartel
An Army recruiter in San Antonio confessed this week to funneling several dozen assault rifles to a Mexican drug cartel last year.
Sgt. Julian Prezas, 36, pleaded guilty Monday to counts including lying on federal firearms forms and attempting to export defense articles to Mexico, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
Prezas, who faces a disciplinary discharge from the Army, admitted to acquiring 42 guns.
But an informant told authorities that he had bought 50 to 60 AK-47s, 13 AR-15s and a shotgun from Prezas.
