Corpus Christ Water Crisis--$26 for a case of water, plus two articles

Legislators: Tests show two chemicals may have contaminated water

Industrial tanks may have released two chemicals into the Corpus Christi public water system, according to a news release from the Corpus Christi legislative delegation.

"This is based on initial reports and the quantity of these chemicals can not be determined at this time," the news release states.

The chemicals were identified as indoline and hydrochloric acid.

This new information contradicts the city's earlier announcement that only one chemical — Indulin AA-86 — was released into the water supply. The city's announcement comes about 12 hours into a city mandated ban on drinking or using tap water.

Corpus Christi law firm sues Valero, contractor over water issues

A Corpus Christi law firm has obtained a temporary restraining order against Valero, its subsidiaries and Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions Inc. prohibiting the companies from destroying evidence related to the water issues facing the city.

Craig Sico of Sico Hoelscher Harris & Braugh LLP secured the order on behalf of WaterStreet Ltd. and Costa Sur Peruvian Fusion LLC. The order prohibits the companies from destroying, changing or modifying any potential evidence relating to the cause and effect of the water contamination.

Additionally, a Corpus Christi-based law firm filed a lawsuit against Valero and its subsidiaries and Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions Inc. on behalf of several local businesses and a resident related to the water issues facing the city.

Hilliard Munoz Gonzales LLP filed the suit on behalf of Coiffures of Country Club Inc., Anthony’s Aveda Concept Salon and Paula Porter.
