Retired teachers could feel pain from health insurance

BROWNWOOD -- Retired teachers aren't panicking. Yet.

Staring down the barrel of a billion-dollar gun they have no control over, members of Texas Retired Teachers Association are anxiously waiting to see what their health insurance coverage will look like next year.

If fired, the legislative bullet could cost retirees and the soon-to-be retired teachers across the state thousands of dollars..

"The health insurance program is about to change drastically," said Tim Lee, executive director of TRTA. "These changes could have a meaningful, as in bad, impact on their financial security."
