Man who sued Deion Sanders' charter school for assault seeks money in Prime Prep Academy bank accounts

Fallout from a 2013 assault case against Deion Sanders could derail plans to pay former Prime Prep Academy employees stiffed by the defunct charter school.

An agreement to give former employees the $124,682 remaining in a pair of Prime Prep bank accounts was scheduled to be finalized this week. The staff didn't receive their final paychecks when the school closed suddenly in January 2015, and several employees sued a few weeks later.

Kevin Jefferson, the school's former chief financial officer, filed a petition Tuesday saying he already has a six-figure judgment against Uplift Fort Worth, Prime Prep's parent nonprofit. The action seeks to block the back pay agreement. A separate court filing looks to garnish the money remaining in the Prime Prep accounts.

Messages were left with the attorneys for Jefferson, Uplift Fort Worth and the employees, but those were not immediately returned.
