A Texas police officer narrowly escaped a charging cow after failing to trap it behind a chainlink fence. Screen capture/Temple Police Department/Facebook

March 24 (UPI) -- A clever cow turned the tables on a pursuing Texas police officer that tried to trap her in a chainlink fence.

Temple Police Department shared video of an officer tracking down a cow running loose on a sports field in his squad car.

The cow evaded the officer for a short period of time, until he managed to guide her into a gated playground area on the property.

While the officer exited his vehicle and closed the gate behind him, believing he had cornered the bovine, the cow reversed its course and charged at the officer.
