Allies, we need your help in Texas. Here's what is happening:
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is red-faced FURIOUS because his discriminatory "Bathroom Bill" did not pass. (This is the bill that would require any trans individuals to use the restroom that matches their birth certificate, not their current gender.) The Lt. Gov. is trying to FORCE a special session to pass the bill. House Speaker Straus is doing everything in his power to help, and agrees we have other more important legislative issues than this to deal with. He has refused to bring Patrick's bill to the House floor. We have to help him..we have to help our Trans Youth!
Governor Abbot is the only official that can actually call a "special session."
We need to call Governor Abbot and ask him NOT to waste any more of our tax dollars on a special session for the ridiculous Bathroom Bill. Please call TODAY and leave a message for Governor Abbot!

1. Such a bill is illogical and stupid and makes no sense whatsoever.

1) People don't carry their birth certificates in a wallet to prove gender. 2) Businesses will not hire a guard or monitor to check birth certificates of everyone entering a public bathroom. 3) Police and sheriff depts don't want to spend precious people resources making such arrests. 4) It will make transgender teens subject to bullying at school. It's just totally stupid. It is a stupid stupid bill meant to agitate and persuade anti-gay RWer fundamentalist Christians that Dan Patrick is "one of them." I have been in a public bathroom, when a transgender person was present. Guess what happened? Nothing! I did my business and left, and so did she.

3. If I was a transgender and saw Dan Patrick walk into a bathroom

I would follow him inside to take a peek while he was taking care of business, then make a comment boasting about my new anatomical feature in comparison to his (even if I didn't get have that surgery).
