In a recent interview with radio talker Glen Beck, Cruz was asked about Agenda 21.

Cruz: “It’s about putting the tentacles of the United Nation into the very foundations of our government throughout this nation.” Cruz said that as solicitor general, he has a record opposing the World Court and the Bush 43 administration over state vs. foreign interests.

Beck: “The ultimate goal is a world without any personal ownership?”

Cruz: “That’s exactly right. The progressives fundamentally view private property as illegitimate … And they view anyone’s success whether in the US or the US’s material success compared with the rest of the world simply as the product of oppression. So their agenda is to redistribute the wealth and to move toward a universal collective.”

Beck closed interview asking whether Cruz agreed with the thesis that the U.S. government imposed new standards on lightbulbs as part of a conspiracy to help Mexico.

Beck: “When they passed that law, we shut down the only manufacturing of lightbulbs in the country that invented them. We shut it down because they couldn’t retool and we sent the jobs to Mexico. I really truly believe that this government is so damn evil and they’re on this progressive redistribution, that that was the real intention behind the light bulb ban. Would you agree with that or disagree?

Cruz: I do agree with that.
