Greg Abbott wants to restart UT-A&M football rivalry; how a basketball exhibition proved idea is possible

HOUSTON -- The Texas and Texas A&M fans who made the trip to Rice's Tudor Fieldhouse experienced something rare Wednesday night.

Longhorns and Aggies supporters traded cheers and insults while rooting for their schools in a charity exhibition. Since the Aggies left Texas and the Big 12, the men's basketball teams have only played once, and that was in a tournament in the Bahamas.

Texas' 73-69 win over the Aggies was a little different. It provided more than just a preseason tuneup for both teams. The game signaled that the most important part of the rivalry, the football game, could be restarted some day.

"My next goal as governor is to reunite the Texas-Texas A&M football rivalry," Gov. Greg Abbott said, before he added a "Hook 'em Horns."

BTW - Go Shaka!! (VCU Alum here)

My brother and I go off about this especially in basketball. The idea that UVa doesn't play Duke and UNC twice a year and that Maryland is in the Big Ten is preposterous.

"so long to the orange and white", no matter what team they are playing? Talk about an unhealthy obsession.
