Austin cop suspended for urinating outside banquet hall after gala, memo says
An Austin police officer was suspended for 15 days after urinating outside of a banquet hall while leaving a police gala in November, according to a disciplinary memo filed last week.
Officer Gustavo Guzman began serving his suspension on May 3, and wont return to service until after May 17.
The memo said the incident happened on Nov. 9, 2017, as Guzman was leaving the Austin police unions annual Distinguished Awards Gala at ACL Live at the Moody Theater.
Officer Guzman became intoxicated at the event and urinated outside of the banquet hall as he was leaving the facility, the memo said. Officer Guzmans actions were witnessed by at least three people, which brought discredit to the Austin Police Department (APD).
