Victoria man sentenced to 270 years for sharing pornographic images
A 59-year-old man who shared pornographic images of a 9-year-old Victoria girl through the image-hosting website Flickr received a 270-year prison sentence Wednesday.
After pleading guilty to 23 counts of third-degree possession of child pornography and two counts of second-degree possession with intent to promote child pornography, jurors returned maximum prison sentences for Larry Harlan Boyd. Judge Eli Garza then ordered the sentences to run back-to-back.
“The defendant had a choice in his actions. In contrast, the (victim) and the other children depicted in those other images did not have a choice,” said Assistant District Attorney Jacquelyn Johnson, who prosecuted the case.
Investigators with the Victoria Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit began their investigation into Boyd after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which monitors internet communications. The estimated 1,500 images recovered from digital devices at Boyd’s residence depicted children as young as 5 engaging in sex with adults, animals and other minors, Johnson said.
