Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller posted a doctored photo of Whoopi Goldberg on Facebook Thursday morning showing her wearing a T-shirt of President Donald Trump shooting himself in the head. Miller wrote, if proven true, the photo is grounds for ABCs daytime talk television show, The View, in which Goldberg is a host, to be canceled.
Goldberg first addressed the photo-shopped image on The View in April 2017, and spent part of Wednesdays show to again dispel the fake image. She showed viewers a photo of her that is the basis of the altered photo at the New York womens march last year, where she wore a T-shirt that bore the message: And you thought I was a nasty woman before? Buckle up, buttercup.
The doctored image, which has circulated the web since last year, was also shared by Roseanne Barr during a Tuesday Twitter tirade that resulted in ABC cancelling her revived sitcom.
While I in no way condone the highly inappropriate tweet sent by comedian Roseanne Barr, I call on ABC Television to maintain the same standards that they used in cancelling the Roseanne show and also cancel The View, Millers Facebook post said. If proven true, Whoopi Goldbergs wearing of shirt depicting our President being shot in the head us grounds for immediate termination. At present, all I see is hypocrisy and double standards from ABC.

"I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate."
Trump logic, and Roy Moore logic is to NOT APOLOGIZE. Franken apologized for how it made them feel.
Gillibrand saw red and went after him calling for his resignation.
If ABC responds by convicting Whoopi Goldberg before investigating the photo, and giving her due process, then history will be repeating itself.
Sometimes, when people make analogies, it is important to examine what is similar rather than what is different. After all, that is the point of making an analogy.

(10,472 posts)Franken owned what he did. Period. Full stop.
I fully supported his decision to resign.

(3,010 posts)"Several Democrats are expressing regret at having pushed Franken to resign so quickly and some are even advocating for him to remain in the Senate, according to a report by Politico.
I think we acted prematurely, before we had all the facts, one senator anonymously told Politico. The senator asked not to be named due to the issue still being a politically sensitive topic among Democrats.
U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, who initially issued a statement calling for Frankens resignation, has, according to the report, had a change of heart on the issue. He reportedly told Franken in private that he regrets having pushed for him to leave his seat, but declined to comment for the Politico report.
U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia is so far the lone Democratic member of the Senate openly second-guessing Frankens decision to step down. Manchin, who urged Franken not to resign in the first place, told Politico that the pressure that was put on Franken was the most hypocritical thing Ive ever seen done to a human being. To have enough guts to sit on the floor, watch him give his speech and go over and hug him? Manchin continued. Thats hypocrisy at the highest level Ive ever seen in my life. Made me sick.

(8,200 posts)Franklin did apologize. What he did was stupid. But what he did was mild in comparison to what Trump has gotten away with along with a host of other Republcians who have totally ignored his outright sexual assault. The hypocritical Republicans seized it like rapid dogs in heat to exonerate their beloved Fuhrer.

(3,010 posts)to someone else. The point isn't whether Franken did or didn't apologize, the point was that Gillibrand convicted without due process. I hope that ABC does a better job finding the facts before attacking Goldberg.
This really wasn't that hard to understand, in my view.

(3,010 posts)until all the facts came out before making judgement and calling for his resignation. I hope ABC is better than that. There are actual facts to be known (the photos are photoshopped.) If ABC is more prudent than Gillibrand, then we won't find ourselves regretting another rash move. History can be an important teacher.

(53,741 posts)Right wing trickster Roger Stone and his buddy Sean Hannity of FOX got winger Leeann Tweeden to accuse then comedian Franken of groping her during a USO tour back in '06 or '07, way before he was in politics.
She used a gag photo taken during that time with plenty of witnesses around as evidence. Franken posed for the photo and gagged it up as if to grope her breasts while smiling into the camera. It's easy to see from the photo that his hands weren't touching her from the cast shadows, I mean who is going to grope someone on camera in front of several witnesses.
What Franken apologized for was posing for the photo not for actually touching her. And by the way, the accuser Tweeden actually did grope a guitar player on stage in front of hundreds of servicemen on that same tour. Google that photo if you want to see actual groping.
I'm surprise you don't know all this.
Again, you couldn't be more wrong. And btw, another of the accusers accused Franken of groping her love handle as she posed with him for a photo she asked for. Groping a love handle? I mean come on, that's as ridiculous as your post. She's another lying piece of shit who helped Gillibrand jump the gun and throw Franken under the bus without waiting for a senate investigation, aka "due process". Ever heard of it?
Tarc
(10,472 posts)The key here though is that she had a story to tell, i.e. Franken did what she said he did. He owned it, manned up, and resigned. End of story.

See, in hindsight it's pretty clear to see. Or did you fail to notice as soon as Franken announced he was stepping down not another so-called accuser came forward (was prompted/paid by Stone and/or associates).
I know it's hard to admit you're wrong but take the bias blinders off.

She said to Roseanne about retweeting it: just because you got caught with your pants down, don't try to drag other people down with you.
This guy just wants to plant the image of the fake tweet into people's minds to ramp the hate up against a different black woman and ABC. He's an opportunistic asshole.
Even Meghan McCain knew it was fake, for God's sake. I hope Whoopie addresses what this guy says.

But even if they got away with it with Al Franken, the M.O. is out in the open now, and they can't
just destroy the reputation of everyone they find uncomfortable with fake evidence any more. We
SHOULD have been wise to this when they were trying to hound Al Franken out of office. Some of us

As for the Foxsuckers, oh, yes, they'll believe it. First and foremost because the want to, but also, well if it's on Fox, then Jesus commands they treat it as true. Franklin Graham and Jerry Falwell, Jr. both said so, and they ought to know, because they both have God on speed dial. Well, that's what they said, anyway, and men of God like them ought to know who is on their speed dial and who isn't.

Millers Facebook post with the altered image has generated thousands of shares, likes and comments since it was posted Wednesday morning.
Todd Smith, Millers campaign spokesman, told the American-Statesman that neither he nor the commissioner knew if the doctored photo was real before posting it to the Facebook page.
We post hundreds of things a week. We put stuff out there. Were like Fox News. We report, we let people decide, Smith said.
