University of North Texas investigating viral video defacing O'Rourke shirt
DENTON -- More than 100,000 people have watched a video on Twitter that shows a University of North Texas student urinating on a Beto O’Rourke shirt and handing it to a girl on campus.
The video clips, originally captured on the social media platform Snapchat, depict a man with the username Chandler Davis mocking students in line to vote and O’Rourke supporters during Tuesday’s election. O’Rourke was the Democratic challenger to Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, who was re-elected Tuesday.
After showing the line of voters, the Snapchat user’s video appears to show a stream of urine hitting an O’Rourke T-shirt held above a toilet bowl. Then, the shirt is dropped in the toilet. The final video clip shows the man handing the shirt to a girl on campus, apologizing for it being “soaked.”
The Snapchat video clips were captured by another student and shared on Twitter on Wednesday morning. By Friday evening, the video compilation had more than 127,000 views.
