Perry says he will go to South Carolina
In a surprising development, Gov. Rick Perry said today he’s heading to South Carolina — presumably to continue his presidential campaign.
“And the next leg of the marathon is the Palmetto State…Here we come South Carolina!!!” Perry wrote on Twitter.
What an idiot - he doesn't know when to fold them, at all!
On the other hand he's just wasting someone else's money anyway.

Despite a disappointing fifth place finish in Tuesday night's Iowa caucuses that led Rick Perry to say he was returning home to Texas to reassess his candidacy, the Texas governor surprised everyone — including some of his own staff — by tweeting that he was headed to the Palmetto State.

The news sent political pundits, who had all but assumed Perry was dropping out of the race, spinning. It also clearly confused some of Perry's campaign staff, many of whom were en route from Iowa to Austin.

I thought he was just trying to pick up Bachmann's supporters - which frankly isn't going to put him anywhere near the top.
I can see donors opposed to Romney continuing to pour fuel on the Perry pyre though!
Not sure about South Carolina though. I think Burka had the right idea this morning - "the best thing he can do for Texas in the time left to him is to resign"

As others have pointed out, Perry is still governor, and will be until his term expires in January 2015. Unless he decides to run again, the 2013 legislative session will be his last. In a perfect world, Perry would settle back into the governor’s office and try to redeem himself for the damage he has inflicted on Texas during the ten years of his governorship. The budget is in shambles, the schools have been starved of funds, teachers have been laid off, the health care infrastructure is rickety, the state water plan went unfunded in a drought of historic proportions, and the state’s two flagship universities have been under attack by the governor’s office. Perry could undo some of the consequences of his policies, but the best thing he can do for Texas in the time left to him is to resign.
He should resign. And just go away.
A lot of people don't get it. People like Perry assume that because he is a sitting governor of Texas, a big state, that it will translate nationally to hitting the ground running at full speed.
Well while he was unknown at first, it certainly made people salivate for a new savior. But all Perry had to do for a nose dive, was open his big idiot mouth connected to his empty brain. Nothing can save you from your own stupidity. He was never ready for prime time.
He's just been lucky in Texas selling out to the big money interests who handled him well enough to get the voters in Texas to buy into him. The Texas media market is so big - he never had the kind of focus on him he's getting nationally.
I don't know when we will have the ability to compete in Texas with their money power. Texas was bought and sold to the corporate interests a long time ago. And right now they fund the republicans.
I really wish we could break the money corporate power, but I don't see a way to do it.
