Noel Jett, 19, to be the youngest doctoral graduate from the University of North Texas
When Noel Jett started a doctoral program at the University of North Texas at the age of 16, she wanted to take it slow.
After fast-tracking through high school and college, she wanted to take her time. Instead, she took three years to complete a program that is designed to take five. When she walks the stage Friday night during commencement exercises, she will be the youngest doctoral graduate in the schools history, according to UNT.
I never aspired to be the youngest or the fastest or to do things quickly, but that doesnt mean I dont care at all, she said. I mean, I think its fun and cool, but its something that happens on accident. It wasnt a goal.
Her doctorate is in educational psychology with a concentration in gifted-and-talented education, and her dissertation researched other people like her who went to college exceptionally early. This means people who enrolled at universities three or more years early.
