Cedar Park council race will see recount after 1-vote win

Final, unofficial results for Saturday’s election showed two of three Cedar Park City Council incumbents keeping their seats — one of them by just a single vote.

The results showed Place 5 incumbent Heather Jefts with 2,871 votes and her opponent, Rodney T. Robinson, with 2,870. Jefts is a 41-year-old swim coach running for her second term. Robinson is a 39-year-old operations manager for the Texas Army National Guard.

Jefts and Robinson spent Saturday evening locked in a tight race. Once the results were final, Robinson said he would be seeking a recount and awaiting the results of provisional ballots yet to be counted.

“It’s just one vote, so the possibility of an error is definitely there,” he said. “I had a feeling it was going to be close, but I didn’t realize it was going to be this close.”
