Longview High School grad Matthew McConaughey returns to inspire class of 2019, pick up diploma
Longview High School was feeling all right, all right, all right Friday night at the class of 2019s graduation at Lobo Stadium.
Matthew McConaughey, Academy Award-winning actor and Longview High class of 1988 alumnus, returned to speak to the class of 2019.
Longview graduated 581 students at Fridays commencement. After being presented with a 2018 Class 6A state football championship ring, McConaughey said it was the students hearts that got them to graduation.
Thirty-one years ago, I was you, a graduating Longview Lobo, he said. The most important reason for my success, and I believe what will be the most important thing for your success, the one thing that we all have that should never be for sale, the thing that we give the most of and should protect with our life, that thing is our heart.
