San Antonio under federal investigation for booting Chick-fil-A from airport

AUSTIN — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the San Antonio City Council's decision to bar Chick-fil-A from the local airport, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

The FAA is looking into whether the council discriminated against the fast food chain over "the expression of the owner's religious beliefs," threatening the city's millions in federal funding.

"The FAA notes that federal requirements prohibit airport operators from excluding persons on the basis of religious creed from participating in airport activities that receive or benefit from FAA grant funding," the agency said in a statement to the Express-News.

City Attorney Andy Segovia told the newspaper his office was reviewing the situation "to determine our course of action."

was exercising its 'deeply held' religious belief that discriminating against gays is against Jesus' teachings. And it has a right not to allow Chick-fil-A in their business (airport).

Whether or not their discriminatory practices were the consequence of their religious beliefs is utterly irrelevant. Religion is not license to break the law.
