Facebook posts by Williamson County sheriff's commander draw ire
ROUND ROCK Posts on the public Facebook page of a Williamson County sheriffs commander that used pictures of dolls to depict date rape, kidnapping, demeaning sexual acts and the mutilation of a black football player have caused concern among some residents who have viewed them.
The photos were posted by Cmdr. Steve Deaton, who was disciplined this spring for making an inappropriate sexual comment during a staff meeting. The Facebook posts, which have since been removed, were published as recently as December and went back to least November 2017.
One of the photos shows a toy Santas elf holding up the head of a blonde Barbie doll with the caption: Sticking to etiquette our elf holds the hair of his date to the party while she pukes. Silently though he wonders whether the roofie he slipped her earlier will still be effective.
Williamson County therapist Rhonda Gilchrist, the former director of victim services at the sheriffs office, said that post and the 10 others like it that Deaton put on his Facebook page made her sick.
I know cops have macabre humor, Gilchrist said. My dad was a cop. But to joke about this is dehumanizing, and its especially disturbing that the person doing this is in charge of protecting the lives of people in this county. It disturbs me professionally and personally on a lot of levels.
