The Kingsville Record and Bishop News will publish final edition Dec. 5

The Kingsville Record and Bishop News will soon be closing after more than a century.

The newspaper said in an unsigned post on its website its staff was notified of the decision to close Wednesday afternoon.

"As many of you are aware, the newspaper industry faces troubling financial times and an even more uncertain future," the statement reads. "We’ve made changes in recent months that we hoped would allow us to adapt, but it has become clear that those changes are not enough."

Its final issue is scheduled for Dec. 5.

The newspaper said on its website it plans to contact subscribers, advertisers and other partners over the next few weeks to discuss details of its plans to close.
