Tensions At The Alamo Flare Into Violence Following Peaceful George Floyd Protest

SAN ANTONIO -- A riot broke out on East Houston Street Saturday night, with people breaking shop windows and stealing items.

San Antonio police officers responded by releasing what appeared to be tear gas and shooting people with rubber bullets or pellets to clear the area. Multiple people were taken into custody.

After hundreds of people left the march and vigil for George Floyd, who was killed while being restrained by police in Minneapolis, several hundred more people gathered at the Alamo where they spent about around three contentious hours protesting police violence and counter-demonstrators at the Alamo.

Several armed militia groups, including the Texas Freedom Fighters, stood behind police officers, to guard the historic Cenotaph, which was graffitied on Friday.

17, 19 and 21 year old arrested. There was a 41 year old also arrested. He looked like a tweaker. All were Hispanic. (Charged with felonies)

I think it was mostly "thrill seeking" of "copy cat" looting. They weren't protesters, just brats taking advantage of a situation.

There were a few more people who were charged with misdemeanors. Their names/ages and mugshots were not in the media.
