A message from Beto in my email account
Last night Powered by People volunteers made more than 320,000 phone calls to Texas voters.
I was right there with the hundreds of volunteers who turned out to call Texans from across the state, listening to the people who will decide the outcome of the most important election of our lives. Voters who indicated a preference for Democratic candidates were marked so that they can be contacted again ahead of Early Voting (which begins on October 13th). Those who said they’re going to vote for Trump and Republican candidates were marked so that we don’t contact them again. Same for wrong numbers.
About those wrong numbers. We get our fair share of them. We are calling largely unproven lists of voters, so that’s part of the deal. But if we didn’t call these numbers now, it would be left to our candidates to call through them in the remaining weeks before Early Voting, which would be a waste of their most precious, limited resource: their time.
So we do this work, calling through millions of Texas phone numbers to find those registered voters that we need to turn out in October and November. This effort — the thousands of volunteers, the millions of phone calls — at the end of the day will produce a verified, actionable list of known voters who are likely to vote for our candidates. And when our candidates win, we gain control of the Texas House for the first time in 20 years; we pick up more Congressional seats; we win the U.S. Senate; and we make Joe Biden the first Democrat in 44 years to win Texas’ electoral college votes.
