Its ok to be heartbroken right now, but we cant give up. We have to fight harder. Texas is purple, its been purple for a while. Our voter turnout this year was astounding. We need to keep turning out for state and local elections.

(2,986 posts)Like a supertanker, sharp turns are not a likely reality. We'd like to be on a firmer new course but it will take more time. Demographics are on our side. Dems need to find better (and younger) candidates and get on the same page on messaging nationally. I love AOC and the squad and see them as part of the future but having them publicly throw out half baked ideas and statements that are counter to the interests or at least worrisome to 90% of the national electorate is VERY unhelpful. And I would die in support of free speech and peaceful demonstrations, but violence and looting makes people nervous. Nancy Pelosi has had the right idea and right touch and some tried to go too far too fast and while some progress may be made rhetorically, it leads to scaring even more people to Trump and other Repubs. Let's help ourselves and not keep shooting ourselves in the foot with ill disciplined and unaligned messaging in public.
