Texas coronavirus cases exceed 10,000 for 2nd day
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported 10,097 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, the second day in a row new cases surpassed 10,000.
The last time daily virus cases exceeded 10,000 was in July.
The latest surge comes months after Texas saw a summer spike in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
The states high for new cases recorded in a single day was 10,791 on July 15. State health officials initially reported 10,865 cases Tuesday. However, they corrected the figure after realizing that Brazoria County lumped 260 probable cases into its daily total.
Texas became the first state to surpass 1 million confirmed cases Tuesday, according to data from Johns Hopkins coronavirus resource center, which collects data from several sources. The Texas Department of State Health Services, which relies on counties to report data, is reporting 985,380 total cases.
