Editorial: Resign, Senator Cruz. Your lies cost lives.

In Texas, we have our share of politicians who peddle wild conspiracy theories and reckless rhetoric aiming to inflame.

Think U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert’s “terror baby” diatribes or his nonsensical vow not to wear a face mask until after he got COVID, which he promptly did.

This editorial board tries to hold such shameful specimens to account.

But we reserve special condemnation for the perpetrators among them who are of sound mind and considerable intellect — those who should damn well know better.

None more than U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.

Cruz knew what he was doing all along, and it was promoting lies to try and get trump supporter support for future political asperations. He has no morals, no ethics, and is another serial liar looking for an advantage to use for another run for higher office, which now has totally backfired. Cruz is almost as bad as trump is because he is smarter, but almost as corrupt, and very treasonous.

Plenty of dumbfucks get law degrees, each and every year. Two words: Louie Gohmert.

5. Ted Cruz falsely claims in interview that he 'disagreed' with Trump's rhetoric 'many, many times'

Amid intensifying calls for his resignation, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz — a key ally of President Donald Trump — ludicrously claimed during a Thursday TV appearance that he opposed Trump's "language and rhetoric" for four years.
The Texas Republican's assertion comes as he faces incendiary criticism from both sides of the aisle for seizing on Trump's lies about the November election being rigged and trying to halt Congressional approval of president-elect Joe Biden's win in the electoral college.

"I have disagreed with the president's language and rhetoric for the last four years and have said so many, many times," Cruz told KTRK, an ABC affiliate in his home town of Houston.

"If you look to what I have said, you will not find me using the same language or rhetoric," Cruz added. "What I have said is that serious claims of illegality need to be considered, they need to be adjudicated and they need to be considered fairly based on the facts and based on the evidence."

In reality, after exchanging harsh words during the 2016 election, Cruz emerged as one of Trump's coziest congressional allies during his term, especially on the president's unfounded claims of election fraud.
