A retired Corpus Christi attorney on probation for drug possession was arrested Friday morning after he dropped a dollar bill with white residue during his court hearing.
Daniel Barber, 71, had a probation review hearing about 9:30 a.m. in 117th State District Sandra Watt's court. Barber's attorney, Les Cassidy, had not yet arrived when court officials and another attorney saw Barber drop the money.
"Barber was moving around in his pocket and threw down a dollar bill with a white substance," Watts told Cassidy during the hearing. "He allegedly brought cocaine into this courtroom."
Nueces County Sheriff's officers responded with a K-9 unit to search the courtroom.

(19,326 posts)this implies at least that Barber was IN prison, seeking release through this
"probation review hearing".
Unless he was already out, and this was just a follow-up hoop he had to jump
through to say out.

(111,972 posts)the article said he dropped a dollar bill. You would think that an attorney would at least have a $20?
