http://www.khou.com/news/Reports-of-shooting-at-Lone-Star-College-in-North-Harris-County-187912461.html

HARRIS COUNTY -- There are reports of a shooting at Lone Star Community in North Harris County.

There are unconfirmed reports that at least three people were shot.

KHOU 11 News stringer Lloyd Overcash saw one male being brought out of the library on a stretcher.

At least one other person was being treated by EMS crews outside the library when Air 11 flew over.

Other crews were entering the library with stretchers, as students filed out.

The only thing campus officials can confirm is that the school is on lockdown.
We'll have more details as they become available.

Multiple people have been shot at a north Harris County college, Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said.

Investigators said the shooting happened at Lone Star College's North Harris campus, 2700 West W. W. Thorne Drive near Aldine Westfield shortly after noon on Tuesday.

Officials have not said exactly how many people have been shot or the extent of their injuries. Memorial Hermann Hospital said Life Flight was sent to the college to pick up at least one patient.

Deputy constables said they have at least one person detained, but have not said if that person is a suspected shooter.

Investigators have not said if they believe there is more than one shooter involved.

Armed Harris County sheriff's deputies searched buildings and vehicles for anyone who may be involved in the shooting.

A shelter-in-place was ordered at the college. Students, faculty and staff were told to stay where they are.

Aldine Independent School District officials said four nearby campuses, Dunn Elementary, Parker Intermediate, Nimitz 9th grade campus and Nimitz High, were placed on lockdown as a precaution. School district officials said there is no reason to believe a shooter is on any of those campuses, but the lockdown was issued for precautionary measures.

why the nut jobs don't call for the closing of all public schools and community colleges to prevent these crimes?

How pathetic (note that this a comment and not a question).

I can see that logic on their side. Pretty much, they don't believe in free schools anyway. And college well that's only for the very rich so why should they pay to protect those campuses.

UPDATED Three People Shot at Lone Star College
By Steve Jansen Tue., Jan. 22 2013 at 1:49 PM

A shooting has taken place at the main campus of Lone Star College in north Harris County.

Details are scant at this point, but according to other news outlets, three people were shot at the campus around 12:30 p.m. One of the people shot may be a gunman. It's also believed that another gunman got away.

At 12:52 p.m., school officials posted the followed statement on its website: "LSC-North Harris campus evacuation is in progress. A couple of armed suspects reported; injuries reported. Incident limited to LSC-North Harris."

At 1:40 p.m., Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia tweeted, "HCSO has an active shooter scene working at Lone Star College... Please avoid the area if possible."

According to a release by the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), who has officials at the scene, details will be released during a news conference at Aldine-Westfield and Turkey Drive, which is located near the campus that's currently on lockdown.

Hair Balls has contacted the Lone Star College system for additional information. We'll update you if we hear back.

Update (2:10 p.m.): Senator Kel Seliger was watching the coverage of the Lone Star College shooting on Fox News in his Austin office and had this to say:

"It's always terrible," he says. "I assume we're going to find out that some part of it is tragic. And we're going to see what went on in Houston before we make more comments on what transpired."

Kimberly Reeves contributed to this report.

One person said that the shooter was responding due to low grades.

A second person said that the fight was over a girlfriend.

This may be going out on a limb, but I'll offer a third option: a bad football bet!
