On Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott announced help is on the way to Texas hospitals. The statement comes after receiving criticism for his coronavirus response amid a surge.
In a news release, the governor calls on the Texas Department of State Health Services to coordinate staffing agencies to provide medical personnel from out of state to Texas healthcare facilities to assist in COVID-19 operations.
The governor also called on the Texas Hospital Association to ask hospitals to voluntarily postpone elective medical procedures to increase hospital capacity for COVID-19 patients. According to the release, the suspension should take place when it does not result in loss of life or the deterioration of a patient's condition.
Additionally, the Texas Division of Emergency Management will open additional COVID-19 antibody infusion centers in communities across the state. The infusion centers will treat COVID-19 patients with therapeutic drugs that can prevent their condition from worsening and requiring hospital care.

(16,949 posts)find the medical personnel to staff those centers? Meanwhile, someone who has scheduled time off from work and arranged for care and rehab to get hip or knee replacement surgery has to wait because some whiney little shit didnt want to get a shot. Fuck em. Hospitals should roll the way they usually do and if they run out of beds oh well, theres always thoughts and prayers.
