New Braunfels pays out nearly $700,000 in river lawsuit
NEW BRAUNFELS The city has agreed to pay nearly $700,000 to settle a lawsuit by three river outfitters who successfully challenged its river management fee charged locally to those renting tubes and rafts.
It's a total victory for my clients, said Jim Ewbank, attorney for Texas Tubes, Corner Tubes and Rockin' R River Rides, which are to receive $141,090, $141,172 and $190,853, respectively.
Mayor Gale Pospisil said of the City Council voted last week to settle the case, a matter of not throwing good money after bad.
The city is still locked in a related legal fight over its ban of disposable containers on the Comal and Guadalupe rivers inside city limits.
