Cargill vigil: Wayland Baptist's Harral Auditorium filled with prayer, song (2,000 lose jobs)

PLAINVIEW – They came in droves tonight. More than 300 people, lifting their hands in supplication, seeking peace of mind after the county’s largest employer said it would close its plant and asking for rain.

And they believe God will answer them.

“God is about to bring a new wind in Plainview,” said the Rev. Marcus Flores. “We thank you for the new opportunity that will open up in Plainview.

People crowded Wayland Baptist University’s Harral Auditorium for a prayer rally, seeking solace from the news last week that the Cargill beef processing plant would close, putting more than 2,000 people out of work. That’s about 14 percent of Hale County’s workforce, said Greg Ingham, Plainview’s city manager.

Since there are so many CA entrepreneurs coming to Texas there should be no shortage of jobs for these poor people.

Of course they will be looking forward to minimum wage, no benefits, no insurance, no retirement.

But they'll have jobs so they might as well quit praying now. It ain't gonna do anymore good.
