An Aggie state legislator has filed a bill to bring back the Texas A&M-University of Texas football rivalry.
Rep. Ryan Guillen, a Rio Grande City Democrat, filed a bill on Monday that would require the schools to play a non-conference, regular-season football game against each other every year. If the universities did not, neither could use state tax dollars on athletic scholarships, grants or similar financial assistance for student athletes. The legislation would take effect in time for the 2013 season.
Guillen did not immediately return a request for comment.
"I think the people of Texas want a game, and we're trying to get them one," Guillen said in a news release Tuesday.
