Texas lawmaker introduces uber-unconstitutional resolution to make the Bible the official state book

While Texas having an official state book may seem a little like Wisconsin naming an official nonalcoholic beer and vegan goat cheese, at least the state is trying to encourage reading. Officials should probably ease into it, though. Maybe start with an official “back of a Cocoa Pebbles box” or an official misspelled, ungrammatical neck tattoo?

That’s not to say everyone in Texas is less than well-read, of course. There appear to be a lot of smart people in Austin and elsewhere—just not enough of them to keep Ted Cruz, that giant ass polyp of the Senate, from spraying his mind diarrhea over the rest of our body politic.

Of course, in our country, states have a certain degree of sovereignty, so you tend to get blatantly unconstitutional proposals—like trying to give one particular religion’s sacred text official government recognition through legislative resolutions.

They want to set up a vote so they can claim Democrats voted to "cancel" the Bible.

It doesn't force religion on anyone

For instance, the official dance of almost every state is: the square dance.
Obviously, there no is legal precedence with square dancing. Believe it or not most states adopted the square dance in the 80s and 90s. I don't know why...It sure wasn't popular then and it isn't popular now. Square dancing sure isn't sacred..There are no laws regarding square dancing...

and drafted me along with most of the guys on the basketball team to go out on the floor and square dance. None of us had any clue what we were doing. I didn't go around any old people for about a decade afterwards.

I went to school in Seattle, New Jersey, California and Wisconsin.

"Do-si-do your partner now"

There must have been a square dance lobby that was making the rounds in the 80s and 90s trying to revive square dance by making it the official dance of just about every state..LOL
