Sen. Ted Cruz pushes to defund Obamacare, warns it will trigger recession

WASHINGTON – Sen. Ted Cruz will roll out an amendment Wednesday morning that would defund Obamacare.

Cruz’s argument is that with the economy on shaky ground and the federal debt rising, implementation of the president’s signature health care overhaul is unaffordable and outright dangerous. He and Utah Sen. Mike Lee, a fellow tea party Republican, are proposing to delay implantation, by inserting language into legislation that would keep the government running for the next six months when the current budget expires.

“It will hurt the economy, it will kill jobs, it will make life harder for Texans and for Americans all across our great country,” he said Tuesday night on a statewide tele-townhall hosted by the conservative group Texans for Fiscal Responsibility — one of a number of appearances he made to drum up support for the effort.

Cruz also gave a shout out on Tuesday night’s call to senior Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the deputy GOP Senate leader, who has struggled to win quite as much affection as he among tea party activists. He noted that Cornyn supported Sen. Rand Paul’s filibuster last week to protest U.S. drone policy, and has signed onto his own effort to defund Obamacare.

Since Paul Ryan's verbal slip, Republicans think that they can roll out there newest shooter: Senator Ted Cruz. They are under the misbelief that Cruz is to be trusted (trusted like Senator Warren is).

In my opinion, this is also a good chance for all Americans to see that Ted Cruz is a liar and that he does not have the best interest of Americans in mind but instead has the best interest of the health insurance business in mind. With Texas refusing to accept the Medicaid Exchange taxpayers are going to pay of health care which will be the same results as what Ted Cruz will be pushing for the rest of America. Americans need to know what they are really getting from the GOP: same as Ryan just told the American people, destruction of health care.

This is a national travesty. An Amendment could pass in the House of Representatives.
