Reports: Washington Commanders purchase land in Prince William for possible stadium site

The location has all the prerequisites:

• It's nowhere near public transit, so people will have to drive to get there. With any luck, Dan Snyder can make all the roads leading to the stadium private, so that he can prohibit people from walking or bicycling to the stadium.
• Once there, the lucky attendees can be charged $25 to park their cars.
• All the big trees in what is now a wooded tract will have to be bulldozed, so that the land can be paved over for the needed parking lots.

I assume there's something in this for elected officials too, but that will have to wait to come out.

BREAKING
Reports: Washington Commanders purchase land in Prince William for possible stadium site
INSIDENOVA STAFF May 23, 2022 Updated 6 hrs ago

The Washington Commanders have purchased more than 200 acres in Prince William County as a "possible next step in building a new stadium," ESPN reported Monday.

The network, quoting a source, said the $100 million deal for land near Interstate 95 was completed last week. The report was later confirmed by other media outlets, including the Associated Press and the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The team has been considering three potential sites for a new stadium, in Sterling near Dulles International Airport, in Woodbridge off Telegraph and Summit School roads and a site near I-95 and within the Potomac Shores development.

The ESPN report did not make it clear whether the team purchased land near Woodbridge or Dumfries, but JP Finlay, a Commanders' reporter for NBC, tweeted that sources told him the land is the Woodbridge property. The Times-Dispatch reported that the purchase is for the Woodbridge property as well.

The two Prince William County sites reportedly under consideration for a new stadium for the Washington Commanders NFL team are in the Potomac Shores development and on undeveloped land near Telegraph and Summit School roads (pictured here) in Woodbridge. Summit School Road will eventually be extended to the commuter parking lots shown in the lower part of the photo. The aerial photos were taken last summer.

Especially if the Commies continue to play as they have.

Of course, if the other owners vote to kick out Snyder, all bets are off.

So much bad info on the Commanders Stadium today the more interesting story might be who the original source was

Major update to the story of the Commanders and Woodbridge, Va.:

A Va. state senator said a team lobbyist told him the team acquired an *option* to purchase the land, not the land itself. Big difference.

There are no roads around Woodbridge, or Dumfries that can handle sporting event traffic.

My main street can be shut down with one accident.
