Tea party leaders emerged from Tuesday less enthusiastic about Mr. Christies win than they were angry over the loss by Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II in Virginias race for governor, accusing the Republican establishment of undercutting a conservative candidate who they say could have won.

He said polling suggested that people who voted for Sarvis were both Dems and Reps. It was a "protest vote" so there was no indication that it would have changed the outcome
